Challenge Accepted: Saweetie And Cher Star In MAC Cosmetics’ Campaign
UNITED STATES — MAC Cosmetics is known for their epic makeup collaborations, and the brandâs latest project â a campaign, dubbed “Challenge Accepted,” featuring rapper Saweetie and music icon Cher.
MACâs âChallenge Acceptedâ campaign, challenges its users to put their makeup to the test and shine a light on their performance.
The campaign, which launches today, also marks Saweetieâs latest one with the company since becoming its brand ambassador in September.
â’Challenge Accepted‘ means challenging a status quo, and I try to do that every day with my business, with my music, with the message I give out to the world,â Saweetie told WWD. âBecause I went to college, something that was said to me was: âWhy would you be a rapper when you have a degree?â But I challenge that. Iâm going to do what Iâm passionate about. So Challenge Accepted from MACâs side, from my side, I feel like we continue to challenge the doubters.â
We’re living in a society that’s all about women empowerment, so it is not a shocker that Saweetie and Cher immediately hit it off, with the rapper stating one of the best parts of the campaign was working with her.
âCher is so magical. Every time someone asks for me to describe her, I feel like thereâs no one word to put it, but sheâs magical,â Saweetie said. âSheâs fun. Sheâs so full of knowledge and she was such a pleasure to work with. If I can, I would do it again.â
According to Drew Elliott, senior vice president and global creative director at MAC Cosmetics, having both musicians on set was âa dream.â
âWhen they were filming together, Cher gave endless advice and âwisdomâ about the industry, fashion and style,â he told WWD. âIt was such a moment â a moment only MAC could make. These two artists are powerhouses on their own, but together they are unstoppable.â
Saweetie does a great job branding herself. Last year, she collaborated with companies like McDonaldâs and Quay.
Some of her biggest hits include âBest Friend,â featuring Doja Cat, âMy Typeâ and âIcy Grl,â but Saweetie has yet to release her album. But according to the rapper, the project, called âPretty Bâch Music,â will be out sometime this year.
âI want to apologize to my fans, because itâs been coming out for the past year. But this time itâs really coming out,â Saweetie said. âI think that âPretty Bâch Musicâ will just be full of strong messages that you can apply to every area and aspect of your life.â
