PARIS — It’s a homecoming for Raf Simons! After a hiatus of three seasons, Raf Simons is returning to the City of Light to show his next menswear collection.

Simons will show his Spring/Summer 2019 collection in Paris on Wednesday (June 20) at 9.30 p.m.

For the past 18 months (three seasons), the Belgian designer’s house has staged his menswear shows in Manhattan, ever since he took over the reins of Calvin Klein, and relocated to New York to helm that storied American brand (see it here).

Simons won both awards for menswear and womenswear designer of the year in 2017 at the CFDA Awards, the unofficial Grammys of fashion.

Last February 2018, he showed his Fall/Winter 2018 Menswear Collection at New York Fashion Week Men’s (see it here). The runway was set for a feast, with piles of fruit and vegetables, breads and cheeses, cakes, and stacks of waffles that the staff encouraged guests to eat. Around dozens of lush floral bouquets, hundreds of half-poured glasses and empty bottles of Champagne and wine were artfully arranged. The extensive show notes cited the 1981 German film Christiane F. as a starting point.
