MILAN —  Stella McCartney and Alberta Ferretti will show their upcoming collections at Milan Men’s Fashion Week in JuneMMFW is opening up to womenswear. British designer Stella McCartney, who is buying back a 50% stake in her eponymous brand from Kering (see it here) will be making her debut at Milan Fashion Week, which is set to run from June 15th to 18th.

McCartney will not stage a catwalk show but a special event scheduled in Milan on Monday June 18th. An exact venue has yet been announced. For the occasion, the label will showcase the women’s cruise collection for spring 2019, and the new menswear collection for Spring/Summer 2019.

This innovative presentation format was first adopted by McCartney last November 2017, when the namesake designer first launched her men’s collection. The new format’s maiden event was held across the pond in London, then in Los Angeles the following season, and next month it will be Milan‘s turn. Stella McCartney‘s women’s collection will continue to show in Paris.

Italian label Alberta Ferretti announced in a press release that it will open the men’s fashion week at 6:30 pm on Friday June 15th, staging a double show at the prestigious Sala delle Cariatidi hall in Milan’s Palazzo Reale, the Savoy royal palace in the heart of the city. The show’s first part will feature the 2019 cruise collection, and the second will present the Limited Edition semi-couture collection, a line of evening and cocktail dresses launched in 2011.

The luxury ready-to-wear label owned by Italian fashion group Aeffe showed the two lines together for the first time in January 2017 in Milan, again on the eve of the Men’s Fashion Week. Alberta Ferretti will continue to show its main line, and the young line, Philosophy, at the Milan Women’s Fashion Week.
