Diane von Fürstenberg Fall 2017 Ready To Wear.

UNITED STATES — More sad news for Diane von Fürstenberg! Creative director Jonathan Saunders has left the American-based label.

Earlier in the week, Monday (December 11), DM Fashion Book reported that Belgian-American fashion designer, Diane von Fürstenberg, who is best known for her iconic wrap dress is selling an equality stake in her namesake label, which she founded in 1972. The 70-year-old designer is looking for an investor willing to acquire a stake in the US -based fashion label and support it through a new expansion phase (see it here).

Then on Tuesday (December 12), we confirmed that Diane von Fürstenberg‘s Japanese partner Sanei International, a subsidiary of TSI Holdings, has decided to withdraw from the business (see it here).

Today, Saturday (December 16), we could also confirm that Scottish designer Jonathan Saudners, who was appointed Creative Director in May 2016 (see it here) has quit the label after a little more 18 months at the US-based label.

Saudners said “grateful for Diane’s support and for the opportunity of guiding this iconic brand,” and that he would “continue to be a friend and admirer” of it. The label’s founder DVF spoke of his “beautiful work and the effort and dedication he has put into DVF,” as well as his “important and lasting heritage.”

While at the label, Saunders had overseen all product categories, as well as the look and feel of its stores, its website, its marketing and its new brand identity.

A replacement hasn’t yet been named, despite the looming AW18 collections. It’s known that Saunders’ pre-fall 2018 collection, unveiled last month, was his last work for the label.
