Word in the fashion realm is that Italian luxury house Versace is in talks with Riccardo Tisci. The brand is also working on an expansion plan ahead of its IPO listing.

WWD reports, “Market sources say that the Italian fashion company is rethinking the timing of its initial public offering as it embarks on a significant expansion plan ahead of a listing. To that end, according to numerous sources, Versace has made overtures to Tisci and held discussions in recent months.”

Although Givenchy said on Wednesday that is does not comment on rumors, speculation is mounting that Tisci and Versace are in talks.

Italian fashion designer and current Vice President of the Versace Group, as well as its chief designer Donatella Versace and Tisci are close friends, she even fronted the French house’s (GivenchyFall/Winter 2015 campaign (see it here). Sources said any contact between Versace and Tisci would be delicate.

The Italian fashion designer and the artistic director of Givenchy is currently prepping his fall men’s show for the runway on Friday night, alongside his winter couture collection. He is also in the midst of widening the Givenchy lifestyle, having recently introduced jeanswear and children’s wear, and segmenting his collections into street, classic and fashion offerings.

A Versace spokesman on Wednesday denied that the IPO has been put on hold, claiming that there was “never a specific timetable for that or any other financial event. We did not have a particular target date, and thus nothing has been postponed.”

We reported about Versace‘s IPO in 2015 here and here. The Blackstone Group bought a 20 percent stake in Versace for $205 million in 2014.
