I can’t believe it been three years since French Montana released his debut album, Excuse My French. The project debut at number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured the platinum single, “Pop That“.

The Moroccan-born, Brox-bred rapper is set to release his sophomore offering, MC4 on August 19 via Epic Records/Bad Boy Entertainment. You could pre-order the album now on iTunes. The 14-track album is rumored to feature guest appearances from Drake, The Lox, Miguel and Beanie Sigel.

Frenchy was “born to win”. Puff Daddy‘s protégé covers XXL’s First Digital Issue. The publications’s Editor-in-Chief, Vanessa Satten headed to Los Angeles to interview Frenchy at his new $3.3 million mansion. His Capuchin money is featured in the Ahmed Klink-lensed photoshoot.

The “No Shopping” rapper keeps it real during a car ride to Malibu to meet Puff Daddy, discussing everything from maintaining positivity in an ugly world to the loss of his good friend Chinx.

And there’s more. XXL‘s Deputy Editor Georgette Cline speaks to French in-depth about the creation of his sophomore LP and the vibe of the project. He emphasizes that point more than once during the conversation, which also includes talk about the recent deaths of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge and Philando Castile in Minnesota by police as well as his working relationship with Drake, his next power move, being underestimated and much more.

Head over to XXL to read the cover story.

In my opinion, French Montana is the new “KING OF NEW YORK“. Biggie Smalls was the first “King of New York“. Puff Daddy, Nas, Jay Z, 50 Cent, Jadakiss and Fabolous came after. It’s a new Hip-Hop era and Frenchy is leading this generation. He’s also dropping and featured on platinum records back-to-back. Who’s currently hottest than Frenchy in NY? I’ll wait!
