New Face: Football Player & Rising Model Tynan Leachman’s Editorial For D.M. Fashion Book
Together, fashion and sports are the perfect blend. The NFL and NBA are now two organizations that are known to a have a great sense of fashion. Some athletes attend Fashion Week around the world on a daily, while others appeared in countless fashion publications and ad campaigns. NFL player Victor Cruz fronted Givenchy‘s New Timepiece: The Givenchy Five Shark ad campaign (see it here) and he was the face Of Riccardo Tisci‘s Givenchy Fall/Winter 2015 Advertising Campaign (see it here).
When Odell Beckham Jr. isn’t catching footballs with just one-hand on the field or flying private jets, he’s sitting front row with Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at New York Fashion Week or shooting editorials for fashion magazines.
Since I have a love for sports and an even greater love for fashion, I’ve decided to reach out to college football player and aspiring model Tynan Leachman to shoot an editorial for dmfashionbook.com, just in time for the 2016 football season.
Detroit based-photographer Joe Alisa lensed the shoot in Michigan. The 19-year-old college athlete styles in Calvin Klein boxer briefs, denim jeans, a sky blue tank, and a pair of joggers in the shoot.
Leachman was born in San Antonio Texas and he currently resides in Chicago, Illinois. He played high school football in Yorkville, Illinois. The 6’4″, 210 lbs wide receiver is now a sophomore at Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. He will begin his first football season with the GW Runnin’ Bulldogs this fall.

When Leachman was in the 5th grade, he found a love for sports– playing basketball and football (which he had a passion for more). “I just fell in love with the game and knew that’s what I wanted to play. My biggest dream is to go pro,” says Leachman.
“I workout everyday for football and run sometimes,” said Leachman, when he was asked how he keep his body in shape.
Social media is how Tynan started modeling. He decided to pursue it three weeks ago, once he got multiple opportunities. He’s now in the beginning stages and would eventually like to sign with an agency. “I would love to sign with Major Models, Wilhelmina, Ford, or Red.”
“Even though, I don’t mine walking runways around the world, I would probably prefer print modeling more because I would love to see my face in magazines and on billboards. I am also very marketable. Brands could use me to sell their clothes.
When asked what publications he would like to be featured in, Tynan said, “GQ, Paper, Vogue, Complex and Esquire magazines”.
As far as music, “I am listening to a lot of Future right now. My favorite television show is Prison Break“. During off-season and when he’s not in college, Tynan enjoys hanging out with his friends back home in Chicago.
You’re not the only one who likes that just-out-of-the-shower feeling. It may come as a surprise, but men are into fragrance as much as women are into perfume. I mean, men aren’t into smelling like roses, but we do like that new scent that will keep us smelling fresh all day.
“My favorite fragrance are Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, and Polo Ralph Lauren,” says Tynan.
Football players are known for inking endorsements with sportswear giant and one day, Tynan would like to collaborate with “Nike, adidas, Under Armour.” “I would even model for Calvin Klein. I could envision myself being an underwear model for the American brand,” says Tynan.
“Nike is my favorite brand, so it would be a dream of mine to model for them or get my own signature shoe with them. I want to follow in the footsteps of other football players who are endorsed by Nike. Nike and athletes have a great relationship. I like how they do business together.”
“I was so inspired and just wanted to focus on modeling more once I finished my first photoshoot. It made me appreciate the modeling industry so much more.”
What’s next for Tynan? He’s gearing up to begin his football season this fall. Aside from football, he’s looking for more modeling opportunities. “I would like to pursue modeling as a job and would eventually like to make a career out of it as well as play in the NFL.”
