We’re all aware that these creative directors are playing musical chairs.

Saint Laurent‚Äės creative director¬†Hedi Slimane departed¬†from the house,¬†Anthony Vaccarello is his successor (see it here),¬†Alexander Wang left Balencaiga, the house tapped Demna Gvasalia¬†to take the helm (see it here),¬†Alber Elbaz¬†left¬†Lanvin,¬†Bouchra Jarrar has been named as the new artistic director of women‚Äôs collections at Lanvin (see it here),¬†Alessandro Sartori¬†exited¬†Berluti, Raf Simmons left Dior and they’re still struggling to find a successor (see it here), Sarah Willersdorf has joined Diane von Furstenberg, succeeding Eran Cohen as Chief Marketing Officer (see it here)¬†and finally,¬†Danielle Sherman exited Edun.

Nicolas Ghesquière is the latest creative director to make moves!

Louis Vuitton‘s creative director of womenswear collections,¬†Nicolas Ghesqui√®re¬†may soon part ways with the luxury French house.

Ghesqui√®re,¬†who took the helm at the¬†LVMH Mo√ęt Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned brand in 2013, after spending 15 years at Balenciaga¬†announced that he wants to create his own brand shortly,¬†while on the set of French television show, Le Petit Journal. When he was asked if it’s a day he would go and start his own brand, Ghesqui√®re¬†replied, “Yes, I hope so, absolutely.” The interviewer followed up by asking¬†Ghesqui√®re¬†“can you start your¬†own brand” and he replied by saying, “Yes I can.” When asked if he had a date, Ghesqui√®re¬†said,¬†“I would do it soon Very soon. No, I do not have a date but I will return to tell you…” No further information about the name or the conditions were announced.

Most creative directors in the last year or two, only spent three years or so at the helm of the house, so this could be a very likely move.

LVMH does, in fact allow its Loewe brand and Jonathan Anderson to start their own label. The same was true for Ghesqui√®re‘s¬†predecessor,¬†Marc Jacobs¬†when he was the creative director at Louis Vuitton.
