Joey Bada$$ For Vogue: Is The Brooklyn-Native Fashionâs Next Triple Threat?
Rapper turned actor and Calvin Klein campaign star Joey Bada$$, born JoeyânĂ© Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott is appearing in these fashion publications left-to-right. We last saw him in the latest issue of SSENSE here.
The Brooklyn-bred (he grew up on East Flatbush)Â is now featured in the pages of Anna Wintour‘s Vogue magazine.
The New York native of Jamaican and St. Lucian has become a constant in our fashion posts. He is definitely a fashion trendsetter in our eyes. In the Mehdi Lacoste lensed shoot, which was styled by fashion editor Mar Peidro, the lyrical rapper styled in A.P.C. tee, Vivienne Westwood trenchcoat, McQ pants, and Mr. Flawless jewelry, Marc Jacobs jacket, McQ bomber jacket, Diesel Black Gold bomber, Rick Owens shorts, and more.
In the article, the iconic fashion publication, asked is Bada$$ “Fashionâs Next Triple Threat?” I believe he is.
The stylish rapper who is also signed to Premier Model Management have been making fashion statements for some time now. Bada$$‘s personal career in fashion is taking off quicker than a horse race. Heâs starring in the Spring 2016 Calvin Klein jeans campaign.
He mentioned in various interviews that he hopes to expand the Pro Era brand into a streetwear brand similar to Supreme. âNow I just want to create everything I want to wear. Like, Iâve got on sweats and a T-shirt right now: Everything I have on should be my brand,â he says. He added that âHip-hop is fashion in a wayâ. âItâs a lifestyle, so therefore it is fashion, culture, music, art, all in one. When Iâm walking down the street and I see from afar a group of kids, and I want to be discreet, Iâm like, âTheyâll definitely know who I am, so let me make a right!â But itâs also something in that, like, okay, theyâre hip-hop and you can identify it. Whether itâs the fashion, the way theyâre carrying themselves, their demeanor.â
