Is Sarah Burton Raf Simons's Successor At Dior

The French fashion house is still playing musical chairs. Earlier today, we reported that the “Hedi Slimane is leaving Saint Laurent” rumors are back in full effect (see the entire story here). Last year, we also reported that Alber Elbaz left Lanvin, Alexander Wang exited Balenciaga, and Raf Simons departed from Dior. A successor for Elbaz and Simon has yet to be announced. Balenciaga has tapped Demna Gvasalia, the founder of the Paris fashion label VĂȘtements to succeed Alexander Wang (see it here).

We previously reported that Elbaz may succeed Raf Simons at Dior. Other names that have been throw out there as Simons’s  successor at Dior are Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, fashion designer Simone Rocha, Chinese designer Huishan Zhang and French designer Joseph Altuzarra, as well as Lucas Ossendrijver, tapped by Elbaz in 2005 to rejuvenate Lanvin Homme.

Outlets even reported that Slimane will replace Simons at Dior. Despite rumors, Slimane will not be replacing Simons. In fact, we may be close to finding Simons‘s successor.

Fashion Week Daily reports, “According to high-level sources in Paris, Sarah Burton is reportedly in talks to take over the creative reins at Dior. A representative for Dior declined to comment. Burton, currently the creative director at Alexander McQueen, has been working for the brand for the past 19 years, and took over the top spot in May 2010 following the death of the brand’s founder.”
