Women Wear’s Daily Is Going Weekly
We’re living in a digital age! It’s no secret that that Internet has taken over publications and the publishing businesses. Several magazines have folded, while others like Harper’s Bazaar, W, and Lucky have scaled back from 12 to 10 yearly issues while focusing more online.
I’ve been hearing rumors for months now, since WWD was acquired by Penske Media from Condé Nast that Women Wear’s Daily will be making some changes.
Apparently, WWD is the latest fashion publication to scale down its print issues.
Today Thursday (March 12), Women’s Wear Daily announced “On April 29, the print edition of WWD will launch in a new weekly format â with global fashion and retail news, striking photography, analysis, features, profiles, opinions and spirited coverage of the rich social and cultural scene that revolves around this creative and essential sector. The final daily print edition will be delivered on April 24.“
“On the contrary, weâre doubling down with an enhanced and invigorated WWD.COM where youâll see deeper editorial content, more breaking news and more stories around the clock. As part of this evolution, weâll continue to expand our growing domestic editorial team as well as our international staff. WWD will open new bureaus this year in China and Brazil that add to our existing offices in Paris, Milan, London and Tokyo â as well as correspondents throughout the world.”
Along with an enriched WWD.COM, the publication will produce a curated Digital Daily edition of WWD that will reflect their judgment of the top stories of the day.
