The 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend and New York Fashion Week (NYFW) took place the past few days in the Big Apple (NYFW continues until Feb 19) and a lot of celebs and athletes made their way to Manhattan and Brooklyn for various shows at Lincoln Center, shopping, dining, games at the world’s famous Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center, concerts at several venues and VIP parties.

To some, it’s an experience of a lifetime, but for me, it’s the norm. I attended a few shows (Mongol, Joseph Singh, Desigual & Ese Azenabor), but my most favorite event was Spike Lee‘s ‘Ol’ Skool Sneaker Jam‘ on St. Valentine’s Night.

The event took place at Brooklyn‘s BRIC Arts on Fulton St. When I arrived to the venue a little before 10:30 p.m., the party was just starting to begin. The set up was pretty dope! One room was the main party/dance room which was decked out with Martell Cognac and photos of the Air Jordan IX. The other room was the lobby/lounge area which featured white seats. The party also featured a collection of sports memorabilia from the Do The Right Thing director’s personal collection, a photo booth and old skool Hip-Hop tunes.

Guests were treated to a lot of Valentine’s Day sweets including red velvet cupcakes, cookies and donuts.

A strict “sneaker only” policy was enforced for all attendees, however singer and actress Christina Milan and model/Chris Brown‘s girlfriend Karrueche got in with their expensive high heel shoes. Other guests in attendance included DJ Clark Kent, former NBA Gary Payton, Skyzoo and more.

By 11:30, BRIC Arts was wall-to-wall packed. The energy was unbelievable. I mean, literally, people danced the night away to a lot of their favorite old skool joints.

The party was definitely lit (a New York word to describe something that is or was cool, good or the bomb).  The Brooklynite and legendary award winning filmmaker made sure his home borough was well represented during All-Star Weekend by throwing/hosting one of the best parties throughout the weekend.
