Last night Sunday (February 1), Katy Perry performed at Superbowl XLIX. The “Fireworks” singer opened the show on an enormous robotic tiger while performing “Roar“. After Perry‘s performance of “California Gurls,” Grammy Award winning Hip-Hop artist and songwriter Missy Elliott came out as one of her special guests (Lenny Kravitz was the other special guest).

During her shorts but dope segment, the legendary artist (Missy) and her dancers dressed in custom jumpsuits which were created by Misa Hylton, Jai Hudson and Isabel Vargas.

The jumpsuits featured Missy‘s name printed on it, patches that said “Superbowl XLIX,” and some of her album titles including “Under Construction” & “Respect Me“.

Throughout her career, Missy has always styled in dope and creative ensembles.

She performed some of her chart-topping hits including “Work It,” “Get Ur Freak On,” and her most successful hit to date, “Lose Control“.

Last night’s performance reminded me of my teenage years, I grew up to Missy‘s music. She has always been a trendsetter. Missy is the only female rapper to have six platinum albums. I hope we get a new single, followed by an album from Missy sometime this year.
