
Gabrielle Union & Tracee Ellis Ross For Elle; Talks Diversity On Television
Being Mary Jane actress Gabrielle Union and Black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross are featured in Elle‘s ‘Women in TV‘ issue. Both of the ladies talked about diversity on television in their feature.
Union and Ross were photographed by Nagi Saaki for the fashion publication’s February 2015 issue. Union wears an Altazurra vest with black veil and flower in her hair, while Ross looks stunning in a Calvin Klein gown and Maison Martin Margiela overcoat.
Union on being hurt when she was passed up for the lead in Shonda Rhimes’ Scandal:
“How many times was there going to be a show about a black woman run by a black woman?” she says. “I thought it was lightning in a bottle.”
On Being Mary Jane ratings:
“The ratings show all kinds of people relate, not just black women,” Union says. “If we can have drones, we can have brown people on TV, and the world won’t end! We need to catch up. We are painfully behind.”
