All this Ace of Spade I drink, just to piss out, I mean I like that taste, could’ve ¬†saved myself 6 thou’s, how many times can I go to Mr. Chow’s, Tao’s, Nobu,” rapped Jay-Z on “Success” featuring Nas.

Last week, news broke that music and entertainment mogul Jay-Z purchased Armand de Brignac ‘Brut Gold’¬†also known as¬†Ace of Spade.

Ace of Spade is a non-vintage champagne produced by a family-owned champagne house called Cattier, a French vintner since 1763. The ‘Brut Gold‘ is recognized for its signature gold bottle and hand-applied and polished pewter Ace of Spades label. Brut Gold is a blend of pinot meunier and chardonnay grapes. Armand de Brignac is also now available in two other blends, a ‘Rose‘ pink bottle and a ‘Blanc de Blancs‘ which is also¬†chardonnay.

When news broke, details on the deal were very suspect. Sources told Page Six¬†that¬†Brooklyn rapper “spent $200 million for his stake in Armand de Brignac.”

Those numbers aren’t quite accurate;¬†they’re off–way off! “Industry experts had initially estimated the investment to have been worth around $25-$30 million,” which is more believable.

Jay-Z has purchased the brand to beef up a Roc Nation liquor portfolio that also includes D’Usse cognac. It is also being reported that Jay is motivated to catch up with Ciroc vodka‘s Diddy, who purchased tequila brand DeLeon with Diageo this year.
