Donatella Versace Talks Happiness, Homosexual, Diamonds, Regrets & More

In the latest issue of¬†Vanity Affair, Italian fashion designer and current Vice President of the Versace Group, as well as its chief designer, Donatella Versace answers some questions in the publication’s ‘Proust Questionnaire‘.

The 59-year-old blonde beauty owns 20% of Versace stock market assets. She began her career when her late brother, Gianni, founded the family label, in the 70’s.

Four decades later, Donatella reveals her love for diamonds, admiration for gays and transgender, the importance of family and much more. Below are some highlights:

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Family, friends, laughter, and music so loud you feel it inside.

Which living person do you most admire? Any homosexual or transgender people fighting for their rights anywhere in the world.

What is your greatest extravagance? Diamonds.

What is your favorite journey? Any journey that leads me home.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Patience. And silence.

On what occasion do you lie? In the past, I may have lied to myself. I hope that is not true anymore.

What do you dislike most about your appearance? I believe in accepting your appearance, not disliking it.

What is your greatest regret? That my brother Gianni is not with us today.

What or who is the greatest love of your life? My children.

Which talent would you most like to have? To sing. I have been surrounded by the most incredible singers my whole life, from Madonna to Prince, Lady Gaga, J.Lo, Beyoncé. To be able to have their talent for just one second would be incredible.

What do you consider your greatest achievement? That Versace is now a brand with a solid future in the 21st century and beyond.

Where would you like to live? For me, traveling all around the world for my work is perfect. I’m too impatient to stay in one place.

Who are your heroes in real life? Kids on the street. That’s where you find real energy.

What is it that you most dislike? Intolerance.
