Diesel pop-up shop to open in Brooklyn.

This Friday (August 15), the Italian brand will open its first pop-up shop in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The 1000-square foot store, named “101” for its Bedford Ave address) will run through December.

The pop-up shop will house special-edition pieces, including candles from Brooklyn Candle Studio, children pieces that were designed just for the store and a selection of third-party products, including tees by Inez & Vinoodh and Deborah Lippmann nail polish.

Diesel‘s Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti has been working hard to reboot the brand since taking over in April 2013.

We have unique pieces used only in the Diesel fashion show in Venice, exclusive denim and leather items all designed by me,” Diesel artistic director Nicola Formichetti told Women’s Wear Daily.

Also, you’ll find additional special touches like a Polaroid portrait gallery of our favorite people.”

On why he chose Brooklyn as the location for this pop-up shop:

Brooklyn represents modern-day culture and fits perfectly with Diesel DNA and where we are heading. Right now, it feels like more of a melting pot than Manhattan and people there are incredibly open and aware,” he said.

Formichetti said this store will be a place where visitors “interact within a space that merges retail with media, and art with a lounge space, rather than merely experience a static store for traditionally commercial exchange.”

The store is meant to be able to adapt and transform to the needs of its surroundings. We have worked with a slew of fine artists to create one-of-a-kind pieces that will be sold exclusively at the storefront.”
