Yesterday, Friday (May 9), I traveled to North Philadelphia and had the honor of speaking to the young men of the 444-Sankofa Passages Program at Randolph High School. The students were so excited and patiently waited for me to come in and tell my story. I was more than happy to share my journey in the industry and give some advice.

During the presentation, I talked to the fellas about what it takes to be an industry journalist and fashion writer, the business aspect of blogging, the music industry & the business side of the music industry such as negotiating record contracts, producers receiving royalties, how to brand yourself, marketing your music, getting your music to the masses, receiving money from touring and merchandise and much more.

I also talked to the young men about how to break into the fashion, journalism and music industry.

For the presentation, I styled a $38 Born Fly ‘Fly Life Tee-Shirt with the $68 Navy Blue Joggers from the brand. $170¬†Air Jordan 9 “Barons” sneakers completed my ensemble.

This Born Fly¬†tee features the quote “Living the Fly Life” on front, signature print on sleeves and lettering, and Born Fly athletic tag at the bottom. The jogger sweatpants feature gold zipper pockets at the sides and back.
