Music mogul and rapper Jay-Z took over HBO late last night Friday (August 2) and unveiled his new visual “Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film“. Directed by Mark Romanek, and produced by Grammy Awards winning producer Timbaland, the 10 minutes visual shows an approach to the creation of the film and the clashes of various types of art. Last month, the Brooklyn-bred rapper descended upon Manhattan’s Pace Art Gallery for a six-hour performance of “Picasso Baby” which was used for the official visual. In the beginning of the visual, Jay-Z explains why he shot this film over a 6 hour period inside of the Pace Art Gallery. The track appears on Jay-Z’s multi-platinum selling album, Magna Carta Holy Grail. The visual features a few celebrity appearances by actresses Taraji P. Henson and Rosie Perez, actor Michael K. Williams, fashion designers Jenna Lyons and Cynthia Rowley, rapper Wale, Hip-Hop legend Fab Five Freddy, directors Judd Apatow and Mikalene Thomas and a few well-known street dancers, singer, and artist.
