In the late 90’s Lala Anthony started her entertainment career as a radio disc jockey alongside rapper Lucacris in Atlanta. After working at the station for some time she decided to relocate to Washington D.C., where she attended the prestigious Howard University. While studying Communications at Howard, Lala worked as a disc jockey at WHUR, the campus radio station. She then moved to Los Angeles and worked at KKBT, where she was noticed by MTV and was invited to audition for a show. A year later she was called back and was announced as the co-host of Direct Effect and Total Request Live. The media personality then transitioned into acting and reality television.

Lala has a lot of checks coming in! She’s also a business mogul. Her cosmetics line, Motives for Lala which is a collaboration between Lala and Motive’s CEO & Founder Loren Ridenger is doing very well in sales. As of April 2013, the Motives line has boasted $80 million in worldwide sales so far. Last winter, Lala and her stylist Jason Bolden launched a clothing line called 5th and Mercer. Now we can officially add “Author” to her long list of titles.

Next year, Lala is scheduled to release her first relationship book, entitled The Love Playbook: Rules For Love, Sex And Happiness. Lala gives relationship advice in her new book which is co-authored by Karen Hunter and will be released on January 28, 2014, by Penguin Group’s publisher Celebra. This should be a good book because Lala and her NBA player husband Carmelo Anthony has been together for 10 years and married for three.

Lala told Us Weekly, “I’m so excited to be sharing my insights on love and relationships.  I hope this book shows women that they can overcome obstacles in their love life and be truly happy!”

The publication reports that “the book chronicles LaLa’s search for romance and offers hard-won advice about how to have a healthy relationship. Married since 2010 to New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony, the star details the bad dates and backstabbing friends she had to overcome to get to where she is now.”
