2012 Olympians and record breaking female sport players Gabby Douglas, Carmelita Jeter, Allyson Felix and Sanya Richards-Ross are covering Ebony Magazine’s 2012 Women Of The Year Issue. All four ladies broke records and became a part of history in their sports.

Gabby Douglas is an American artistic gymnast. As a member of the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won gold medals in both the individual and team all-around competitions. Douglas is the first woman of color and the first African-American gymnast[4][5] in Olympic history to become the individual all-around champion, and the first American gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics. She was also a member of the gold-winning U.S. team at the 2011 World Championships.

Carmelita Jeter’s website dubs her “the fastest woman in the world.”  This year, she became the only female athlete to medal in both the 100 meter and 200 meter races in this year’s Games, winning silver and bronze, respectively.

Allyson Felix boasts the title of most decorated female track athlete at this year’s Olympics. She won 3 gold medals; 1 individual in the 200 meter race, 1 with her teammates including Carmelita in the 4×100 meter race, and one with Sanya and others for the 4×400 meter race. With her 3 golds, it was the most golds for a female track athlete since 1988.

Sanya Richards-Ross won 2 golds in London, 1 in the 400 meter race, and 1 with teammates, including Allyson, in the 4×400 meter relay. Sanya is recognized as one of the most decorated female track athletes ever. She won gold in the 4×400 relay in 2004, 2008, and 2012. After leading the world in the event for the past couple of years, Sanya became the first American woman in 28 years to win the 400 meter dash in the Olympic Games.
