Last night Friday (September 28), Jay-Z kicked off the opening night of his eight shows at Brooklyn’s newly Barclays Center (the home that he built) and he rocked the stage for a sold out crowd. A little after 10pm, Jay took the stage performing “Where I’m From”. He also covered the late great Biggie Smalls “Kick In The Door” and “Juicy” as an image of Biggie appeared on the hi-res screens. Jay wore a grey Nets cap, black vest, black jeans and a Brooklyn Nets #4 jersey which said “Carter” on the back.

Jay-Z also recited a new verse, “This is Rich Porter part two, You can stunt like that when you’re rich before your debut/Money and the murder, rapper or the trapper, Either way I’m gonna serve ya/Shooters on my team, no really, I got shooters on my team/Juan or Deron, How you n****s want it? Pick an arm/They call me Lucky Lefty, Ball so hard I don’t respect the fucking referees.” The crowd went bananas when Jay-Z rhymed his new verse acapella.

Jay also performed “Big Pimpin”, “Marcyville”, “Hard Knock Life”, Encore” and “What More Can I Say” before bringing out Hip Hop’s legend Big Daddy Kane for “Ain’t No Half Steppin”. Jay-Z then took the stage again to perform his verse to G.O.O.D. Music’s “Clique”. He closed out last night’s show with “Young Forever”. Full recap will be posted sometime this weekend!
