Dat Pretty Muthaf**ka (A$AP Rocky) is featured in the latest issue (July 2012) of GQ Magazine. The talented and stylish 24-year-old rapper from Harlem is calling the style shots in Hip-Hop right now. He was the first new rapper of this generation from Harlem to mixed high-end fashion with streetwear. In his spread, Rocky is wearing his signature VSVP cap, a black vest and shirt. He accessorized his outfit with a gold watch and ring. The RCA recording artist who inked a three-million dollar distribution deal last fall also did a recent interview with British GQ. In the interview, he talks about calling himself a weirdo, being a gangsta, getting out of the drug game, his brother being killed and much more. Below are some excerpts:

“Trilla”, you call yourself a “weirdo”. What did you mean?
A$AP Rocky: You ready? I have gold teeth, I have braids, I’m wearing ¬†Rick Owens moon boots, I have rips in my denim, a biker vest, I love artsy girls, my favourite artists are Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon. I’m obsessed with being different.

And you used to be a gangster.
I’m not a gangster, bro. I had to be tough when I was dealing, but that’s not naturally me. It was scary, it was hard: in a good month I could make about 50 Gs; some months nothing at all.

What scared you most?
I was in a shoot-out in Pennsylvania and people got hurt. It was just about jealousy and people trying to rob us. After that, I quit – I was tired of it. The thing with me is if I feel disrespected I won’t hesitate to fight. But it takes a lot to make me feel disrespected.

Is feeling disrespected what provoked the brawl at your SXSW concert?
We got hit with beer cans eight times. Eight. My pants were $1,000 and the crowd kept throwing stuff on them, not to mention that getting hit with a beer can hurts. In the middle of me asking nicely, they threw another. So I had to whup somebody’s ass.

Your brother was killed ten years ago – how did that shape your temperament?
I became more forgiving and merciful because I was so hurt. I don’t want to be dealing and stuff no more; I’d rather have fun. And inspire people to make great stuff.
