BEAVERTON, OREGONAmerican multinational corporation Nike, Inc. is now set to release its ultra-advanced Adapt Auto Max in an “Infrared” color scheme. Joining the ranks of Nike Sportswear and Nike Basketball‘s power-lacing silhouettes like the Adapt HuaracheAdapt BB 2 and Adapt BB, the Adapt Auto Max seamlessly weaves space-age style and tech with classic Swoosh storytelling.

The “Infrared” seems to draw from the memorable Air Max 90 of the same name. Sleek seamless synthetic uppers are dressed in a Nike MAG-esque grey and equipped with a silver Swoosh, silver tongue branding and a hi-vis reflective heel tab. Pods around the throat add further texture, but things get truly enthralling towards the rear. There, a plastic heel clip connects with a piece of textured red rubber that’s branded with black Nike hits, extended farther back and drops down onto the thick midsole.

This midsole is made of two main pieces: the former, a grey EVA foam with a tonal scrawled print that looks like pencil doodles, the latter more ridged red rubber that surrounds the midfoot’s power lacing unit and the heel’s Air Max bubble. The power lacing unit enables no-touch adjustment of the throat’s straps from iPhone or Android devices, and the color of its two lights can also be customized from the same app that controls the fit.

Of course, this unit needs to be charged — so the Adapt Auto Max’s sizable special box includes a flat charging pad alongside what appears to be a small red figure. Semi-translucent red rubber outsoles with a final black Swoosh complete the look.

The Nike Adapt Auto MaxInfrared” will release on Nike SNKRS Korea May 8, and then hit United States sneaker retailers like Foot Locker May 20. The MSRP is set at $400 USD
