New York Fashion Week: CFDA Cancels Resort, Postpones Men’s Shows

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES — And the list continues! New York’s resort and men’s show calendar will join the list among those canceled or postponed.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America said New York Fashion Week: Resort 2021 will be canceled, and New York Fashion Week: Men’s, originally slated for June, will be postponed.

“The CFDA has been carefully following the developments of COVID-19, while providing information and resources to help the industry move forward during this most challenging time,” the group said in a statement. “We are mindful of the global impact this pandemic has had on our day-to-day lives, our businesses and our people With that in mind, the CFDA has decided to cancel the official NYFW: Resort 2021 schedule of presentations. The decision was based on the current global situation, the ongoing uncertainty regarding its impact on retailers and their open-to-buys and designers’ challenges in producing collections at this moment. We strongly recommend and urge designers not to show their resort spring 2021 collections. The CFDA and the Fashion Calendar will not be publishing a resort schedule.”

Additionally, the organization said that in cooperation with New York Men’s Day, Liberty Fairs and Project, it has decided to postpone the June men’s shows and will be working with the trade shows to align on future dates.
