CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — After returning to New York Fashion Week last season (see it here) and showing in Paris for a few seasons, Rodarte is coming home.

The Mulleavy sisters (Kate and Laura Mulleavy) founded Rodarte in Los Angeles in 2005.

In the lead-up to NYFW, California natives Kate and Laura will present their Fall 2019 Rodarte collection in Los Angeles, not too far from where they were raised, and still live, in Pasadena. Showing in the West makes sense: Every single collection they’ve designed has referenced an aspect of California and its rich culture, from the wood paneling of their parents’ house to the redwood forests—in many ways, it’s still a bit shocking that the duo has waited over a decade to show an event on their home town.

California is one of our most important influences and having our first show in Los Angeles is a dream we’ve long wished to make reality,” the Mulleaveys wrote Vogue. “We are proud to bring our show to L.A. with our amazing team and our collaborators, Alex de Betak and Bureau Betak and Brian Phillips and Black Frame, and to be presenting the show with JNSQ wines as they introduce an elegant rosé cru.” The as-yet-to-launch JNSQ wines will be debuting a Rodarte-tinged rosé at the Fall 2019 show to complement the sisters’ dreamy confections on the runway.
