LONDONMarc Jacobs will close its last remaining London store, according to a recent report.

Yesterday Friday (January 5), BoF  “has learned that Marc Jacobs is set to close its last remaining London store on Mayfair’s Mount Street. Other European retail outposts are to follow, multiple sources said. The details of which other stores will be closed are not yet known, although the LVMH-owned fashion house currently operates retail stores in Denmark, Italy, Norway and Luxembourg, according to its website. The Paris location on Rue Saint Honoré will remain open, according to sources familiar with the business.”

A spokesperson for LVMH did not response on this story, at the time of posting.

However, Marc Jacobs will maintain a physical presence in London through its wholesale partnerships with multi-brand retailers including Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.

The brand struggles most commonly dates back to June 2015, when we reported that Marc Jacobs has officially closed his Collection store in Paris‘ Palais Royal, after nine years (see it here). In March 2015Marc Jacobs‘ Marc by Marc Jacobs label discontinued, and that collection was folded into the primary Marc Jacobs line (read it here).

In May 2017DM Fashion Book reported that American fashion designer Marc Jacobs reduced his European staff, according to sources. The luxury house will operate in a “fully integrated manner” out of New York (see it here).

As part of its ongoing restructuring efforts, Marc Jacobs International is said to have laid off the majority of its European staff, based in Paris.

It was also announced back in May 2017 that Marc Jacobs chief executive Sebastian Suhl would be exiting the company.

Stay tuned as this story develops!
