Beauty News: Ciara Is Revlon’s New Ambassador
R&B/Pop singer Ciara has come a long way from Riverdale (Atlanta), GA. Musically, she sold more than 23 million records and 16 million singles. Outside of music, Ciara transitioned into a style icon and beauty brand ambassador.
As of today, she can officially add beauty muse to her forever growing résumé: Revlon has tapped the “I Bet” singer as its newest global ambassador, where she joins the likes of Emma Stone, Olivia Wilde, Halle Berry, and Lauren Hutton, to name just a few.
This is a dream come true for Ciara, who revealed to People.com she’s had a connection to the brand since before her birth. “My mom was trying to figure out my name when my dad bought her a fragrance called Ciara by Revlon. That’s where my name came from! Ever since I understood that, my mind has been on it,” she tells People.
The southern beauty also used Revlon products for as long as she can remember. One of her faves? The brand’s brow pencils. “Having the right brow shape — and having your brows stay in place throughout the day — is crucial. I discovered Revlon’s brow pencils years ago, and that’s the one thing I live by. They’re a game-changer.”
As Global Brand Ambassador, she will not only appear in color cosmetics ads, but will also be the face of the “Choose Love” campaign, part of the brand’s larger Love Is On platform, which launched in 2014 and focuses on celebrating love and all of its positive aspects and possibilities.
“It’s so exciting to be a part of the ‘Choose Love’ campaign because the messaging is parallel with what was and is happening in my life,” says the newlywed, who married NFL player and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in July (see it here).
“Having my own personal journey that I’ve had through my life, I’ve just really been about female empowerment and that’s really, that’s really important to Revlon, too,” Ciara says.”It’s an exciting thing because, you know, it’s bigger than the makeup. They take it a step further by using the platform to help make a difference.”
As far as fashion, Ciara is featured in glossy publications around the world on a daily, and is a regular in the front row at Fashion Week in Paris, London, Milan and New York. Last spring, she signed an exclusive modeling contract with IMG Models (see it here).
Cici is a muse of former Roberto Cavalli’s creative director (Peter Dundas). He recently designed her wedding dress (see it here). Last year, donbleek.com reported that Cici was the face of Roberto Cavalli’s Fall/Winter 2015/16 Campaign, was the first American ambassador to Topshop (see it here), and was in the latest campaign for Keds (see it here). She’s also a long-time muse for Givenchy, cultivating close friendships with designer Riccardo Tisci, as well as with Ralph Lauren.
Ciara is also working on her new album. She inked a deal with Friends At Work, a new management company founded by Ty Stiklorius, who previously worked as co-president at the Atom Factory, famously known for its affiliation with Hollywood stars like Lady Gaga. FAW is already the home for singers including Alicia Keys and John Legend.
