Milan Fashion Week: Armani To Close
Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani is closing out Milan Fashion Week. “The Italian Fashion Chamber said the designer’s namesake brand would close the next edition of Milan Women’s Fashion Week, running from Feb. 25 to Mar. 2.”
For several seasons, Armani had been showing the last day of fashion week, he moved his show ahead during Milan Fashion Week in September.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, “Last February, during his usual post-show press conference, the designer lamented the absence of important international press at his show, including American Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, caused by the fact that he was the only big name to show on the last day of Milan Fashion Week. Armani’s decision will enable the Italian Fashion Chamber to schedule a six-day show calendar, instead of a five-day shortened one as in September.”
“I want to personally thank Giorgio Armani who gave proof of great sensitivity and generosity towards the Italian fashion system,” said the Italian Fashion Chamber president Mario Boselli.
Boselli also highlighted that Armani would be a stable presence on the last day of Milan Fashion Week for several seasons. “This is going to be a structural thing,” said Boselli.
